For the Seagreen Offshore wind farm project we performed a suction pile test program consisting of 29 no installations in various types of soil using our full scale suction pile with a diameter of 9.5m and length of 7.8m. Full size suction pile tests make design optimizations possible and de-risk the installation. Especially for sites with less homogeneous soil conditions and/or stiff to very stiff clays.
Suction piles are an adequate, optimum solution for the foundations of offshore wind turbines and substations. Suction pile foundations provide a silent, reversable and fast installation.
