Fleet expansion
November 2008, SPT Offshore has expanded its fleet of suction pump units with 4 identical newly designed SAPS-004 suction pump units
The SAPS-004 suction pump units (SPU) are specifically designed for suction pile based platform installations. They offer a high volume flow (up to 440 m3/hr) and a high differential pressure (up to 8 bar). Venting is carried out through the SPU so there is no need for separate vent valves on top of the suction piles. The SPUs are designed for a water depth of up to 150 m and they are powered by an electrical umbilical. Inclination, differential pressure and penetration are controlled from a 20ft control container.
The SAPS-004 suction pump spread has been mobilised to Maroc for their first suction pile installation job for the Perenco Emeraude platform in January 2009 and will be available for rental afterwards.
